There's nothing more natural than being scared.

Virgo season is the best season—but I might be a little biased. From August 23rd to September 22nd, this earth sign is in charge like they always hope to be.

Also known as the sign of the Maiden, Virgos are loyal, caring, and have a strong fondness for details. They're also known for being critical, overly independent, and consumed with their work.

When it comes to horror, Virgos don't tend to gravitate towards things on the extreme end on the spectrum. While they're not as soft as water signs, they tend to like scares that are at least semi-rooted in sense and logic, preferring substance—mental, emotional, or otherwise—over gratuitous gore and jump scares.

In the market for a cheeky deconstruction of the slasher genre? Hoping to catch a cautionary tale of control?

Here are six horror movies for Virgos to stream tonight!

Annihilation

Based on Jeff VanderMeer's book of the same nameAnnihilation delivers gripping eco horror. Biologist Lena (Natalie Portman) goes on a dangerous expedition into an area where the laws of nature seem to have been distorted.

As an earth sign, Virgos are drawn to nature. These individuals have a lot in common with depictions of Mother Earth: they are grounded, maternal, and fiercely protective.

Virgos may also enjoy this movie for its wealth of female leads, as this star sign is empowered by feminine energy.

Scream

In the 1996 masterpiece Scream, teenage Sidney Prescott is still reeling from the murder of her mother when a masked killer starts terrorizing her and her friends.

With every phone call promising a deadly cat-and-mouse game, Sidney must find out who's wielding the knife—and why they seem to have a vendetta against her.

As a Virgo myself, this is truly one of my favorite movies. And for good reason!

Virgos have a highly analytical mind that will delight in all the meta layers of this movie. Self-referential humor is the way to this earth sign's heart, after all.

Plus, adding a bit of mystery keeps their lightning-quick minds engaged, trying to piece together all of the clues.

Final Destination

On the way to a school trip, high school student Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a premonition about a plane crash, allowing him to save the lives of several of his classmates. But their luck runs out as death seems determined to take them one way or another.

This film has enough tension to send a high-strung Virgo over the edge. But if they can survive the constant scrapes—and head-on collisions—with death, then it might just be one of their favorites.

Virgos are known for thinking everything through from every possible angle, so the cause-and-effect plot of this movie will tickle a special spot in their brain.

Misery

Based on the Stephen King book of the same name, Misery follows famous author Paul Sheldon (James Caan), who is taken into the care of one of biggest his fans, Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), after a car accident. But Annie has some suggestions for his next book—and she won't take no for an answer.

Annie Wilkes is a nurse, which speaks to the inherent caretaker instinct present in all Virgos. She's also a deadly control freak, which has probably been used to describe many Virgos in history.

The Invisible Man

Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) has taken dangerous steps to escape her abusive relationship with genius Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). When he takes his own life afterward, everyone assumes the worst is over.

But Cecilia knows better. As she's brutally hunted by an unseen assailant, no one believes the truth, even as people around her begin to die.

Another one of my favorites, The Invisible Man is a smart and well-executed psychological horror film. Like Virgos, Cecilia is forced to constantly think 10 steps ahead and stay on her feet.

Also in line with this hyper-independent earth sign, Cecilia cannot rely on anyone for help. The motto of Virgos tends to be “I'll do it best myself,” which Cecilia expertly embodies in this high-stakes film.

Lisa Frankenstein

Lisa Swallows (Kathryn Newton) is a teenage outcast who doesn't even fit in with her own broken family. But when a lightning storm brings an old corpse (Cole Sprouse) back to life, Lisa sets off on a journey of self-discovery, love, and murder.

Virgos will feel seen by Lisa's character, a homebody who feels like it's her against the world. This earth sign's critical nature often isolates them, leaving them feeling like they cannot happily exist without their perfect ideal reality.

But Lisa is also a cautionary tale for Virgos—a taste of what it looks like when all of those feelings they repress boil over. Lisa isn't afraid to work for what she wants, but when you're all work all the time, the times when you come out to play can be a bit brutal…
