We asked Gwendolyn Kiste to share a few words about her forthcoming novel—and here is what she had to say!
“There are too many forgotten women, both in literature and in real life. When it comes to gothic horror, two characters who have been too often disregarded are among my very favorites: Lucy Westenra from Dracula and Bertha Antoinetta Mason from Jane Eyre. I always wanted better for both of them, so I decided to write the book I felt they deserve.
“In Reluctant Immortals, I center both Lucy and Bertha's narratives, bringing their struggles and their perspectives to the forefront. Reluctant Immortals
