This past weekend I had the wonderful pleasure of representing The Lineup at New York Comic Con. This convention is the place to be on the east coast for lovers of all things pop culture, and as the second day of the event fell on Friday the 13th, horror fans were out in full force. There were so many incredible things to see at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, but nothing was as exciting as the remarkable cosplayers!
Scares this good deserve to be shared. Here are some of my favorite horror cosplays from New York Comic Con 2023.
Peter Venkman & Slimer, Ghostbusters
by Fred & Amanda Alvaro
The Javits Center got a little messy thanks to this duo, but a little bit of ectoplasm never hurt anybody. Not too bad, anyway…
Pennywise, IT
by Barbie Chula
This breathtaking Pennywise has us floating. Barbie Chula is a model and SFX makeup artist. Check her out on instagram @barbiechulanyc.
Leatherface, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
by Manuel Soto
A familiar face that brings a whole new meaning to “good skincare routine.” Let's hope the chainsaw massacres stay in Texas.
Grace Le Domas, Ready Or Not
by Kelsey Magill
You don't see this movie repped a lot, but it's one of my favorites! Kelsey is the reigning hide and seek champion of NYCC. Find her on instagram @kelsey.dagger.
Nurse, Silent Hill
by Victoria H.
This is one nurse you don't want drawing blood. A classic choice for a horror cosplay, we love to see it every time.
Bill Overbeck & The Huntress, Dead By Daylight
by Chris & Suzy
It's nice to see Killers and Survivors overcoming their differences. Find these two on instagram @b3rtil and @suzyphoenix_!
Michael Myers, Halloween
by Ben Atwell
Death has come to our big city. Has everyone checked in on their babysitters?
Dr. Finkelstein, The Nightmare Before Christmas
by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph
Deadly nightshade, anyone? This incredible cosplay is made up of “2lbs of very pokey pipe cleaners.” You may know Leslie Carrara-Rudolph as Sesame Street's Abby Cadabby, but you can (and should) also catch her this Saturday, October 21st at her Moonlight Madness cabaret at The Green Room 42. It's an adult musical event that promises to be a lot of fun for anyone in NYC! Find tickets here.
