Indiana "Demon House" Was Said to Have Held 200 Demons

It was known as one of the most possessed homes in the world.

A home in Gary, Indiana known as the demon house is one of the most possessed homes in the world. It became famous in 2014 after a woman and her three children claimed to be possessed by demons.

Among the strange happenings: a nine-year-old boy walked backward up a wall in the presence of a family case manager and hospital nurse.

Even the police were terrified. Gary police Capt. Charles Austin said it was the strangest story he had ever heard. "I am a believer," Austin told the Indy Star.

Latoya Ammons, her three young children, and her mother moved into the house in 2011. The strange occurrences started right away. Big, black flies suddenly swarmed their porch even though it was winter.

"This is not normal," Ammons' mother, Rosa Campbell, told the Indy Star. "We killed them and killed them and killed them, but they kept coming back."

Late at night the family would hear footsteps climbing from the basement and doors opening and closing. They'd lock the door, but still hear noises. Then, one night, the grandmother of the children saw a "man" pacing her living room. She even found wet bootprints. But no one was there.

“We killed them and killed them and killed them, but they kept coming back.”

And then the unthinkable: One night, in the midst of grieving a deceased family friend, the 12-year-old girl in the family was found in her bedroom levitating several feet above the bed, entirely unconscious.

The family was too cash-strapped to move so they enlisted the help of their church. Clergy members concurred that something was in the home. They burned sage. They burned sulfur. But the demonic presence persisted, possessing Ammons and her three children who were 7, 9, and 12 at the time. The kids' eyes bulged and they smiled in strange ways. The youngest boy even tried to kill his older brother.

Rather than help, the family doctor called family services and opened up an investigation. When the social worker arrived, she witnessed the boy walking backwards up the wall.

According to the report: "He walked up the wall, flipped over her and stood there. There's no way he could've done that."

The family became desperate and finally performed an exorcism, but the whole thing only ended once they left the home. Psychics claim that the home was possessed by over 200 demons and that no exorcism could change that.

In 2014, the home which was thought to be a "portal to hell", was sold to famed paranormal investigator Zak Bagans. Two years after purchasing the property, Bagans had it knocked down

“Something was inside that house that had the ability to do things that I have never seen before—things that others carrying the highest forms of credibility couldn’t explain either,” Bagans told the Indy Star. “There was something there that was very dark yet highly intelligent and powerful.”

Good riddance demon house. I wouldn't go building another home on the land.
