Brightest Young Things is hosting a true crime festival to end it all. Death Becomes Us runs from Saturday, November 3 through Sunday, November 4 at Lisner Auditorium in Washington D.C. It's official show schedule is packed with events that feature your favorite true crime experts and pop culture creators—from a discussion with FBI agent and Mindhunter author John Douglas to live recordings of podcasts like Last House on the Left and Criminal. What's more, the warm-up events leading up to the festival are thrilling in their own right.
Have you ever dreamed of perusing the Library of Congress for true crime clues? We have, too. On Friday, November 2, the Library of Congress joins forces with Death Becomes Us to host a temporary exhibition of killer true crime literature and artifacts. Join other true crime enthusiasts as you peruse rare books from writers like Truman Capote, Edgar Allan Poe, and Wilkie Collins. Are you more of a courtroom art specialist? Bill Robles’ collection of courtroom illustrations will also be on display. The best thing about this event? It’s totally free and open to the public, but we still recommend RSVPing to secure a spot at the library.

Attendees of Death Becomes Us will also get a chance to cross paths with their favorite podcasters and true crime specialists. Hear from Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej from Buzzfeed Unsolved, the gals from Wine & Crime, or laugh at the hilarity of a terrible and particularly twisted movie with the comedians of How Did This Get Made? If you prefer a forensic approach to true crime, Lt. Joe Kenda of “Homicide Hunter” is ready to discuss his two decades on the force on Saturday, while John Douglas, author of Mindhunter, will be appearing on Sunday to answer all of your serial killer questions.
If that isn’t enough to lure you in, podcasts Criminal and Last Podcast on the Left will also be holding live shows and answering questions from the audience while genetic genealogist CeCe Moore and investigator Paul Holes (of Golden State Killer solving fame) will discuss techniques and cold case strategies they employed in some of their most notable investigations.

Interested in just a few of the events? No worries. You can purchase tickets for individual shows instead of the entire festival. So put on your Sherlock hat, and head to D.C. for a jam-packed weekend of crime, murder, and cocktails.
