The Awakening
Rebecca Hall stars as Florence Cathcart, a woman who has made her career disproving supernatural occurrences. When Cathcart is asked to come to a boarding school to dispel rumors of a young boy’s ghost, everything seems to be business as usual. Soon though, Florence begins to believe that the ghost may be real.

Monsters
This 2010 indie will whet any monster movie appetite out there. Monsters follows photojournalist Andrew through a disaster zone. Andrew’s employer asks that Andrew find his daughter, who has gotten lost in the midst of an attack by extraterrestrial monsters. The two must battle their way through the quarantine zone to escape with their lives.
Would You Rather
After her parents die and her brother is diagnosed with a fatal disease, Iris (Brittany Snow) is struggling to stay afloat. When her doctor mentions the Lambrick Foundation, which exists to give grants to people in need, Iris thinks she’s found her way out of grief and debt. Iris shows up to the dinner party for recipients only to discover that Lambrick is a sadistic aristocrat who will force the attendees to play a fatal game of “Would You Rather” to win their money.

Curse of Chucky
This 2013 entry puts an end to the Chucky franchise’s reliance on humor. Curse of Chucky is just straight up scary again. Never seen any of the Chucky films before? This may be a good place to start.

The Silenced
This Korean import is based on a real case of abuse and terror. The Silenced is the story of young Kang In-ho. Kang joins a new school for the deaf in the countryside. Each girl in the school must wear the same uniform, adopt the same hairstyle, and act demurely. Kang quickly realizes that all is not well in her new home.
The Pact
When Annie’s sister goes missing just after the death of their mother, Annie knows something has gone horribly wrong. Annie can’t get help from police, so she must find her sister by herself. Unfortunately for Annie, her mother’s house has become a hotbed for horrifying paranormal activity.
The Eyes of My Mother
This twisted coming of age tale combines French extreme horror with black and white art house aesthetic. Francisca is growing up in rural America. As a child, her mother tutors her in anatomy—including dissecting a cow’s head and playing with the eyes. This dark tale will shock you.
Clown
This one is even more messed up than you could possibly believe. When realtor and father Kent McCoy discovers a clown suit in the basement of a house he’s selling, he decides to take it for his son’s birthday party. After falling asleep while wearing the suit, Kent discovers he can’t take it off, even when the costume begins to change his behavior—and his appetite.
Backcountry
When a young couple goes camping, they expect a quiet, romantic weekend. Instead, nature turns against them. Basically, it’s Jaws for bears.
Antibirth
This trippy body horror will mess with anyone who has ever thought about having kids. Starring Natasha Lyonne and Chloë Sevigny, Antibirth is a hallucinogenic terror ride.
The Den
This found footage, internet-based horror movie is far better than it has any right to be. Elizabeth Denton has just received a grant funding her research into video chatting platform and is spending all day, every day on THE DEN. When she sees a murder live on her screen, Elizabeth gets dragged deeper and deeper into the dark side of the internet.

Dementia
