In 2014, the New Zealand mockumentary horror comedy film What We Do in the Shadows, starring Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi, and Jonathan Brugh, captured viewers' hearts. Five years later, a television series of the same name was developed at FX, following a group of eccentric vampires living in Staten Island.
This spin-off series follows not only the exploits of three traditional vampires, but the daily life of an energy vampire and the household familiar. From learning about the modern world to forging friendships to facing old rivals, the antics of the group never get old. And, somehow, these centuries-old creatures are pretty relatable.
Everyone has a favorite character, but which character is written in the stars for you? Read on below to find out which What We Do in the Shadows character you are based on your zodiac sign!
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Nadja of Antipaxos
Besides being the only lady vamp in the main group, Nadja (Natasia Demetriou )also stands out for her sharp intelligence. A keen mind doesn't make her level-headed, however, as she's quick to anger, and violence is sure to follow. Anyone who dares to stand against her beware, she is determined to be seen as a figure of respect. And rightfully so—she's a natural leader, as seen with her role in the vampiric council of Staten Island.
Nadja is a perfect example of the fire sign of Aries. Also known as the sign of the Ram, Aries are known to be confident and passionate individuals. They can be impulsive and moody with fits of aggression, but no sign comes without their faults. At the end of the day, they want to be in charge, and they excel at it.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Laszlo Cravensworth
Laszlo Cravensworth (Matt Berry) is a very well-cultured vampire. He also happens to be obsessed with his own libido, and will gladly let anyone in his path know about it. At times he can be confrontational, especially when he thinks he's right (which might just be always). He can be quite the problem solver, if his quick invention of his alter ego, Jack Daytona, is anything to go by.
One of the most sensual signs in the zodiac is Taurus. These earth signs are also known as the sign of the Bull, and they have the stubbornness and uncompromising attitude to show for it. This sign loves the finer things, like music and art. They even like gardening, which harkens back to Laszlo's...anatomical topiary collection.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Nandor the Relentless
Those born under the air sign of Gemini are known for their dual nature. Also known as the sign of the Twin, they can be made up of contradictions. They are at once curious and nervous, as well as adaptable yet indecisive. There is a gentleness to them, and they love connecting with people. However, their biggest flaw is their inconsistency.
Nandor the Relentless (Kayvan Novak) is a great example of a Gemini, as he seems torn between the harsh masculinity of his time as a conquerer and the softer, intimate side of him that yearns for friendship. He's in a constant state of figuring himself out, pushing himself to foster the compassion that lives within him. Though he can be arrogant, he's also prone to moments of being laid back. Polite but cruel, excited but dismissive, he is a vampire of many sides.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Jeff Suckler
Jeff Suckler (Jake McDorman), otherwise known as Gregor, has had a bit of a rough go of things. A hopeless romantic for better or worse, he has loved Nadja through many different lifetimes. Unfortunately for him, his pursuit of her often ends in his terrible demise. Whether he's an animal or a ghost, he just can't stay away. Does that make him determined, or simply a slave to his emotions?
Cancers are deeply emotional individuals. This water sign, also known as the sign of the Crab, is incredibly tenacious, and even more loyal. The people they love mean a lot to them, and they will use their broad imagination to find a way to be close to them at all costs.

Leo (July 23-August 22)
Simon the Devious
Leos—also known as the sign of the Lion—are the kings and queens of the jungle. Or at the very least, they like to be treated that way. These fire signs are, at their worst, arrogant and self-centered. But they have good qualities, too! They are incredibly passionate and one of the most creative signs you'll find in the zodiac. They have a great sense of humor and love having fun. If they feel like they're being ignored, however, no one is going to be having a good time.
Simon the Devious (Nick Kroll) may not be intentionally hilarious, but his presence brings heaps more comedy to an already funny show. Ruling over the vampires of Manhattan, Simon definitely has a superiority complex—once that often rears its head in his rivalry with Laszlo. His creativity is often funneled into schemes and mischief towards Laszlo and his friends, but for all he may concoct grand plans, they rarely work out well for him.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Guillermo de la Cruz
Though Guillermo de la Cruz (Harvey Guillén) starts to go down a complicated path of vampire hunting, he is first and foremost a familiar. In pursuit of his dream of becoming a creature of the night, much of his time is spent doing caretaking tasks for the vampires. Over time, he became more than just a timid servant, he became a close friend. And he's smart enough to know that Nandor has no plans of ever following through on his vampiric promise.
The earth sign of Virgo is also known as the sign of the Maiden. These individuals are the hardest workers of the zodiac, which often makes them fall into the bad habit of being all work and no play. Virgos can be shy and anxious when you first get to know them, but be forewarned that the closer you are, the more critical they might be. At their core they are kind, loyal, and practical, making them great parental figures. Or, you know, familiars.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Sean Rinaldi
Sean Rinaldi (Anthony Atamanuik) is the friendly human neighbor to the main vampires of the series. He's a genuinely kind man who reaches out to the vampires, helping them with their garbage cans and inviting them to parties. He doesn't kick up a fuss about them being monsters—though his understanding attitude is largely because he keeps getting hypnotized to forget. Still, he's a generous guy, going so far as to lend his credit card to the vamps, even when he's buried under gambling debts.
The air sign of Libra is also known as the sign of the Scales. Though they are often viewed as pillars of justice, calling them forces of harmony might be more accurate. They are incredibly cooperative, and as generous as they are fair and reasonable. They find joy in sharing with others, and will avoid confrontation at all costs. They're certainly the social butterflies of the zodiac.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Colin Robinson
Sorry, Scorpios. You have a lot of wonderful qualities, from your bravery to your friendship, but this match-up is going to largely overlook those in favor of the ways you can be a bit of a downer. Also known as the sign of the Scorpion, Scorpios are a water sign. For all that they are resourceful, that can often present itself as manipulation.
Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) isn't your typical vampire. Rather, he's an energy vampire, living off the negative emotions of those around him. To get his fill, he purposely finds ways to annoy or bore people in his vicinity. Unfortunately for him, it means that when he's being genuine, people just perceive him as trying to feed off of them.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
The Djinn
The Djinn (Anoop Desai) is not the stereotypical wish-granting genie you'll find in most forms of media. Rather than a flashy trickster, the Djinn is more of a cold, bureaucratic type who finds clever little loopholes in wishes. There's a dry humor to him, and while he makes a point of giving lessons in the dangers of greed, there are also times—like at Nandor's wedding—when the Djinn can be quite generous.
The fire sign of Sagittarius is also known as the sign of the Archer. These individuals highly value freedom. They tend to make big promises they can't always deliver on, but are very giving people. However, these idealists can become impatient when the world around them doesn't match up with the concept they have in their heads.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
The Guide
The Guide (Kristen Schaal) is a pro at stress management—and she's had to manage a lot since the roommates got involved with the vampiric counsel. Whether it's taking on tedious human matters or handling out-of-hand supernatural issues, The Guide is equipped for anything. She doesn't demand recognition like some other powerful vampires, acting more as an ally, as seen through her growing friendship with Nadja.
Capricorn is an earth sign otherwise known as the sign of the Sea Goat. There's no one more responsible in the zodiac, and they are such good problem solvers that they can often come off as know-it-alls. They lean toward a more understated lot in life, and focus more on self-control than excess and extravagance.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Baron Afanas
Baron Afanas (Doug Jones) is an ancient vampire lord with a bit of childlike wonder about the modern world. Though he wants desperately to forge companionship, the desire is buried behind his bloodlust and horrifying appearance. When he does engage with others, he is very intelligent and well-spoken. He's also very goal-oriented about achieving vampire domination...
The air sign of Aquarius is also known as the sign of the Water Bearer. These original individuals highly value quality time with friends, but then have a counterproductive habit of running from their own feelings. These intellectuals hate being lonely, but they also tend to be uncompromising. The latter is a great asset in their love of rallying for causes, be it humanitarian efforts or ruling the world.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Jenna
Jenna (Beanie Felstein) starts out as a shy, virginal LARPer meant to be nothing more than a meal for the vampires. Luckily for her, Nadja felt sorry for her after seeing how her fellow roleplayers bullied her and transformed her into a vampire. She has trouble standing up for herself, and even has trouble taking to her vampiric tendencies, until Nadja takes her under her wing.
Pisces—the sign of the Fish—have the softest hearts of the zodiac. This water sign is gentle and compassionate, to the point where they often end up being overly trusting. This, coupled with their strong desire to escape reality, sometimes leads them down the path of victimhood or martyrdom.
