Get ready, Stephen King fans. The latest trailer for CBS All Access's adaptation of The Stand was just released, depicting a world consumed by darkness and divided by good and evil. Yes, the gang's all here, from Whoopi Goldberg's Mother Abigail and the band of survivors in Boulder, Colorado, to Alexander Skarsgård's menacing Randall Flagg, who seeks to swallow up what remains of the world. Good versus evil, order versus chaos, hope versus doom. "The world is now a blank page—make your stand."

Set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a pandemic, the trailer depicts abandoned cities and cars strewn about the streets. As survivors gather in Boulder in hopes of rebuilding society, evil coalesces around Randall Flagg in raucous neon gatherings in Las Vegas. Tensions build, with each side justifying their purpose and need for power.

Directed by Josh Boone, the upcoming Stand miniseries boasts a star-studded cast. In addition to Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abigail and Alexander Skarsgård as Flagg, the series stars James Marsden as Stu Redman, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, and Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, among others.

Of course, this is not the first adaptation of King's 1978 post-apocalyptic plague epic; ABC aired its own miniseries adaptation in 1994. CBS's upcoming version stands apart with a new cast and a different ending. That's right: Newsweek reports that the show's finale will feature a "new coda" penned by Stephen King himself.
