Teen horror is about to get more classy, with Octavia Spencer taking the lead as a truly terrifying villain in Ma, hitting theaters in May. We got our first peak at the upcoming horror flick today, when a surprise trailer dropped. And it's every bit as creepy as the others on our 2019 watch-list

From Universal and Blumhouse, the producers of Get Out and Happy Death Day, Ma follows a group of teens who find an unlikely ally in Octavia Spencer’s Ma while attempting to get liquor for their latest high school rager. But soon, their ally will be their greatest menace.

Spencer uses every inch of her acting ability to show just how wild her character is willing to get, as she stalks, intimidates, and Single White Female’s her new young friends. When Ma invites the teens to use her basement as party ground, they think they’ve got it made. After all, when you’re a high schooler, what else do you think of, other than finding new places to hang out without parental supervision?

Even when your mom is cool, like our main character Maggie’s mother (played by Juliette Lewis), there’s something about getting away. And for a while, the teens think they’ve got it made, even as Ma starts to get in contact with their parents, and show up in places they haven’t told her about.

Soon, they’ll realize just how deeply they are in over their heads.

Check out the first trailer for Ma below, and try to keep the chills to a minimum.

Ma hits theaters May 31, 2019.
