The first trailer for 2019's fresh take on the iconic Chucky doll is here–and we're quivering in our boots. Sure to spook horror enthusiasts and fans of the original Child's Play movies alike, the slasher doll is as gleefully violent as ever in this brand-new take. And 21st century Chucky has a unique array of opportunities for mayhem.

Child’s Play comes from Orion Pictures and the producers behind IT. The film follows Karen Barclay (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who decides to buy her lonely son, Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a high-tech toy called the “Buddi doll.” The doll, who takes on the name of Chucky (Mark Hamill), is not only a fun figurine that keeps Andy company–he also functions as a smart home device for the family’s electronics.

Despite Chucky’s incredible functionality and innocent appearance, he soon begins to exhibit growing signs of violent behavior. As the trailer progresses, Chucky can be seen taking control of the home’s different devices, such as the thermostat, drones, and a lawnmower to kill his victims. Clips of Chucky attacking others with his new arsenal of electronics and, of course, his signature knife are strewn throughout the entire trailer as he continues to torture the family.

Like other contemporary horror reboots Pet Semetary and Halloween, this version of Child’s Play brings the iconic doll from the 80s into the modern-day. The original film and series was made up of six sequels, each with their own unique storyline involving Chucky wreaking havoc on his unfortunate owners. With his high-tech upgrade in this film, Chucky is sure to find plenty of ways to make use of his new toys to get some screams out of audiences across the country.
