While Bryan Fuller may still be crooning on about how he wants to bring Hannibalthe disturbingly poetic adaptation of Thomas Harris' cannibalistic novels—back to television, that's not the exciting treat 2021 has in store for us. Instead, CBS has set their sights on the story of the brilliant and cunning The Silence of the Lambs protagonist Clarice Starling, delivering a sequel series to the iconic thriller film of 1991. Aptly titled Clarice, the crime drama premieres on February 11th at 10 PM EST.

Clarice—portrayed by Rebecca Breeds, known for her roles in The Originals and Pretty Little Liars—is a little bit older and wiser, as the series takes place a year after the events of the movie. Depicted in The Silence of the Lambs as a young and determined FBI trainee, Clarice's tale continues on as her brave vulnerability draws monstrous madmen close to her. But Clarice doesn't just explore her life moving forward, but rather dives into the untold personal story constructed by a complex and challenging childhood.

After the trailer shows flashes of haunting atmospheric shots, a dead body is dragged from a ravine by authorities, and a voice poses Clarice the question, "What do you do with all your rage?" It's an enticing inquiry to dangle over viewers, and promises a series which dives into the difficulties Clarice is certain to face in a male-dominated career path. A path which ensures a sense of helplessness and a loss of control.

Breeds will be joined on screen by Kal Penn as Emin Grigoryan, Lucca de Oliveira as Thomas Esquivel, and Michael Cudlitz as Deputy Assistant Attorney General Paul Krendler.
