The British are coming! The British are coming! The wait for revered crime writer Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime to cross the pond is over.
A six-episode adaptation based on Christie’s beloved characters, Partners in Crime begins, of course, with the introduction of our title characters; meet Tommy and Tuppence a couple of amateur sleuths who fall into a web of espionage and political conspiracy against a Cold War backdrop.
Starring Jessica Raine of Call the Midwife fame and British TV regular David Williams, the playful series has everything any binge-worthy thrillerama needs: murder, a missing girl, and wigs – lots of wigs. The ‘50s-style costumes induce wardrobe envy, and the love-hate relationship between Raine and Williams gets under your skin – in a good way.
One of the first subscription streaming services in the U.S. next to Netflix, Acorn TV caters to Anglophiles, which is really just a fancy way of saying it’s a British TV geek’s dream.
