Who wants to play a game?

This May, Chris Rock injects fresh blood into the Saw franchise with Spiral: From the Book of Saw. Billed as the ninth installment in the Saw franchise, Spiral is produced by and starring Rock. It's one of our most anticipated upcoming horror movies of 2020—and this week, we got our first look at the terrors that await.

Rock stars as Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks, who alongside his rookie partner Detective William Schenk (Max Minghella), investigates the brutal murder of a police officer. Their search for answers reveals a blood-spattered pattern that stretches across the city. Someone is murdering cops one by one, and it isn't long before the detectives find themselves caught in the middle of a sadistic game of torture and death.

The upcoming horror movie, which previously had been billed as The Organ Donor, also stars Marisol Nichols as Captain Angie Garza and Samuel L. Jackson as veteran cop Marcus Banks.

Spiral is not a direct sequel to the last Saw film, Jigsaw (2017). Instead, it seeks to reinvigorate the franchise by presenting a new story that exists in the same brutal universe. It remains to be seen whether our old pal Jigsaw will appear in the flick, or if there’s a copycat killer at work. Either way, Spiral looks to be a fresh and gory spin on the popular series, with a serial killer toying with the police in a manner reminiscent of Se7en. Watch the teaser trailer below, and let us know if you’re planning on watching the film when it hits theaters on May 15, 2020.
