Ever dream of writing nightmares for a living?

“Yeah, it’s a little creepy,” says John Lutz of his work, much of which deals with crimes committed by serial killers and other sociopaths. “But then that’s what I’m trying to do.” Many authors find that exploring dark subject matter takes a severe psychological toll. Some take a breather after writing about heinous crimes, while others get so freaked out by their stories,  they have to double-check the closets in their house.
