What do a punk band, an asylum, and a library from Hell have in common? They’re all ready to send chills down your spine this July.
Summer is officially halfway over but the hot horror reads are just getting started.
Here are seven new horror books coming July 2025.

My Ex, the Antichrist
In 1998, Lily and Drake form a punk band. Drake just has a way about him that draws the crowds. Almost twenty years later, Lily confesses to a murder.
Ten years after that, Lily finally agrees to an interview and the band that stood by her side follows her lead. What she has to say might be true. It might all be a lie. But this is her story. And the band is sticking to it.

How to Survive a Horror Story: A Novel
A group of writers are invited to the last will and testament reading for legendary horror author, Mortimer Queen. They all have a connection to the literary icon and they’ve all been waiting for their chance to potentially step into his shoes.
Instead of a legacy, they’re asked to play a game. It’s easy. All they have to do is solve a riddle to progress. If they can’t, the manor will keep one of them.
But they should take it seriously. After all, the house is very hungry.

The Bewitching
Minerva grew up on her grandmother’s stories of witches. It’s what drove her to study horror literature. When she learns that a famous novel may have been based on a true story, she can’t help but dig deeper.
Especially because the author once attended the same university Minerva is attending.
But the more she reads the manuscript, she can’t shake the feeling that something darker is lurking in the halls of the school.
Could it be a witch? And if it is, can Minerva figure out how to escape their deadly grasp?

Girl in the Creek
Dark things lurk in the depths of the Clackamas National Forest. Beyond monsters and aliens, poachers, and serial killers, an empty motel drowns in unidentifiable mushrooms and fungi.
Freelance writer Erin Harper has reason to visit the town clinging to the edge of the forest. Her brother disappeared in the forest years ago. And he isn’t the only one.
But when a missing girl shows up dead, only to disappear from the morgue, and have her fingerprints appear days later at a murder scene, Erin knows something is very wrong.
Is there a serial killer on the prowl? Or are the spores infecting people in strange ways. And most disturbing of all, is Erin next?

The Library at Hellebore
Where do the anti-Christ, world-eaters, and apocalypse-makers go when they become too dangerous? The Hellebore Technical Institute for the Gifted. It promises redemption and a fresh start.
Nothing Alessa Li wanted before she was kidnapped and forced to attend. But on graduation day, the faculty attacks Alessa’s class, devouring most of them.
Alessa and a few manage to lock themselves in the library. The faculty will allow them to live, as long as they sacrifice one human a night.
With time running out, Alessa has to figure out how to band together and survive before the faculty eat their fill.

Angel Down: A Novel
Private Cyril Bagger knows it takes more than courage to survive the Great War. But even the strongest survival instincts have their limits.
When he and four other soldiers are sent into No Man’s Land to end a fellow soldier’s suffering, they know they might not make it back alive. Only, instead of a comrade, they find a fallen angel.
The celestial being may be the key to ending the war.
But to do that, they have to work together, and each of the men have their own inner demons to overcome first.
