A flurry of excitement hit Twitter in June when word began to get out that the latest film director M. Night Shyamalan was working on was actually an adaptation of Paul Tremblay's acclaimed book The Cabin at the End of the World. This pulse-pounding film is set to premiere February 3rd, 2023, and we've just been given a thrilling new trailer to keep us hyped while we wait.
Tremblay's novel was first published in June of 2018 and took home the Bram Stoker Award in 2019. The story follows a small family—seven-year-old Wen and her fathers, Eric and Andrew—as they take a vacation in New Hampshire, tucked away in a secluded cabin. Tension builds as young Wen meets the towering Leonard as she plays outside. He's friendly enough, but his sudden apology is ominous: "None of what’s going to happen is your fault."
The Cabin at the End of the World
With the arrival of three more strangers, their quiet getaway is invaded with the promise of an apocalypse only they can stop. This loving family must choose to make an impossible sacrifice to save the world.
The film adaptation stars Jonathan Groff as Andrew, Ben Aldrige as Eric, Kristen Cui as Wen, Dave Bautista as Leonard, Rupert Grint as Redmond, Nikki Amuka-Bird as Adriane, and Abby Quinn as Sabrina. This collection of talent—paired with Shyamalan's unique visionary style—is sure to compliment Tremblay's masterful story.
