On July 13th, Dan Rivera passed away suddenly in his hotel room in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The paranormal investigator was passing through town for work, showcasing the legendary rag doll Annabelle, which is believed to be demonically possessed.
Though there has been much speculation and wonder over this unexpected passing, the Pennsylvania State Police released a report on the 16th stating that there was nothing unusual or suspicious at the scene of Rivera's death.
While the cause of his death is currently still pending, Rivera's colleagues stated that Rivera had retreated to his hotel room that Sunday because he had been feeling ill.
Rivera will be greatly missed by the paranormal investigation community. He'd been involved in paranormal research for more than a decade, and served as a senior lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Rivera's interest in the paranormal began at an early age after witnessing strange phenomena in his own home. He was reportedly an expert in the rites and rituals of Santeria.
On top of being an important figure in the paranormal community, Rivera had also served in the U.S. Army. He was known to be a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend.
