Stay out of the sewers...

It’s been a few weeks since we got our first peek at the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic, It. The latest It trailer, dropped during the MTV Movie & TV Awards over the weekend, has raised the stakes—and goosebumps—with a closer look at the Losers’ Cub, supporting characters and, of course, Pennywise himself. Take a look below:

We open with multiple shots of the Losers’ Club in their hometown of Derry, Maine. Despite the constant threat of abduction—there’s an ominous flash of a missing person’s poster and a 7PM curfew sign—the kids seem to be enjoying themselves. The clip focuses on a scene in the Derry sewer, where the young friends are poking around with their flashlights, making mom jokes. Of course, the lighthearted mood doesn’t last long. Soon, Bill Denbrough (played by Jaeden Lieberher) discovers the shoe of Betty Ripson, a local missing girl. “What if she’s still here?” one of the boys asks. Cue demonic laughter, and a creepy red balloon drifting out of the darkness.

The trailer hints at other characters and subplots. There’s romantic tension between “Losers” Beverly (Sophia Lillis) and the aforementioned Bill. We get a look at Eddie’s maybe-psychotic pharmacist, Norbert Keene, and someone’s gun at the ready.

But it’s the closing shot that packs the biggest punch. A cluster of the iconic red ballons slowly rise, revealing Pennywise’s nightmare-inducing face. With jaundiced eyes and scratch-like marks from forehead to mouth, it’s clear that the film is taking the creep-factor to the extreme. Skarsgard’s Pennywise looks nothing short of evil.
