The latest installment of Hulu's horror anthology television series Into the Dark is coming our way this July—and just in time for the Independence Day weekend, we now have our first look at the paranoid, timely horror that awaits. 

Into the Dark: The Current Occupant will hit the streaming service on July 17th. The feature-length episode follows a man trapped in a mysterious psychiatric ward who comes to believe he's the President of the United States. As menacing orderlies and white lab coat operatives close in around him, the man must fight to preserve his sanity and escape the dreaded institution to reclaim his rightful place at the White House. 

Provided, of course, that he's the one who's sane...

Directed by Julius Ramsay, Into the Dark: The Current Occupant stars Barry Watson, Sonita Henry, Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III, Lilli Birdsell, Kate Cobb, Ezra Buzzington, and Joshua Burge. Alston Ramsay, a former D.C. speechwriter, wrote the episode, and drew on his personal experiences in politics and the current political climate for inspiration.

Into the Dark is a year-round horror anthology television series created by Hulu and Blumhouse Productions. Each episode draws its inspiration from a holiday; previous installments have explored the dark side of Thanksgiving, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, even Pet Appreciation Day. The Current Occupant is, of course, inspired by Independence Day, and aims to deliver a dose of paranoid political chills to your summer nights. Check out the trailer below!
